Sluggy Beats is a music producer that shares his music through youtube by producing a soundtrack and inviting rappers to rap over his songs.

Since building a following, he wanted to improve his content by adding lyrics to his videos in a manor that is exciting and compliments the videos well.

My idea was to incorporate typographic motion graphics and videos to translate the lyrics into a visual experience.

To present my ideas to the client, I created a 10 second trailer with a release date to showcase the potential theme for all future videos. Once approved I began working on the full video, where it became apparent how time consuming each animated word or asset would take. To counteract this, I learnt how to create my own presets for the animations I was creating, allowing the time taken to create the visuals to be reduced by a great deal.

With the growth of the channel turnover for videos will shorten, however by turning the animations to presets, if needed the ability for other designers to replicate the design will be more accessible.

To keep the video engaging, a variety of animations were used with images and extra videos included to really portray the message the musician was trying to convey and enhance the spoken word.
